This beautiful park with its two softball fields, two baseball fields, and four soccer fields, actually speaks more about the community of Van Meter itself than just being a beautiful sports facility. Constructed with gratitude and thanks to many Van Meter residents’ hard work, all of whom volunteered their time with the Van Meter Recreation Foundation.

The Heater From Van Meter

Van Meter’s most famous resident is Baseball Hall Of Fame Pitcher Bob Feller. Baseball legend, war hero, and known to be the hardest-throwing pitcher of all time. Feller’s emergence as a baseball icon while still, a teenager fascinated baseball fans young and old, and his accomplishments, both on and off the diamond, have withstood the test of time. In addition, his service to his country in World War II, putting his career on hold in his prime while being the envy of baseball fans everywhere at the time, still astounds people today. Bob Feller is a true legend. And his legacy started right here in Van Meter.
